Tom's Room
Looking over his sports hall, Tom's Room creates a viewing area for parents to relax while their children take part in sports hall activities, or for sports hall participants to enjoy refreshments during or after their activity.
Room Info
Tom's Room is equipped with reusable bowls, plates and glasses suitable for children's parties, typically following activities in the Tom's sports hall, along with a kettle and mugs. The room has ceiling mounted speakers which can be connected to via an audio input plate for music, and a wall mounted TV which can be connected to by HDMI.
The facilities we offer started with Tom's Sports Hall, which was developed by friends and family of Tom in 2013. Tom was a unique and very popular character, highly driven to succeed in what he loved, football and motorcycle racing. Often scoring spectacular goals for Peel AFC, and then breaking records on his bike, Tom fought through adversity to succeed.

a true “Govagh”.
Nicknamed by the newspapers the Ginger Hitman, Tom picked up his consecutive Division One winners medals in 2000 and 2001 before, reluctantly, accepting that time constraints dictated that he couldn’t continue to do both racing and football and he hung up his football boots.
Tom had always been interested in motorbikes but it took him until 2000, when he was 32, before he decided to aim to compete in the Manx Grand Prix. After the 2021 MGP was cancelled, Tom came 2nd in the 2002 MGP Newcomers Race and his performance made him the fastest ever local Newcomer with the 3rd fastest race time ever. He also earned a very respectable 7th place in the Junior Race 2 days later.
The 2003 MGP was a major disappointment for Tomas he was plagued with mechanical problems and had to retire in both the Junior and Senior Races. However, in that year he also competed in the Southern 100, the Ulster Grand Prix and won a Bronze Replica in both the 600cc and 1000cc TT Production Races. He had proved in a short space of time that he had a considerable talent for racing.
2004 got off to a great start with Tom winning the Andreas Racing Association Champion of Champions 600cc class and a Silver Replica in the TT Production 600cc Race, despite a low starting number of 41 on the grid. He held 4th place early on in the race, 7th place for most of it, but eventually finished 11th after being held up in traffic. He was narrowly beaten into 3rd place in the Post-TT 600cc Road Race by Ryan Farquhar (winner) and Guy Martin, then earned another 3rd place in the 600cc Southern 100 Race a month later, again behind Martin (winner) and Farquhar. Tom then set his sights on the 2004 MGP. He was given the Number 1 plate in both the Junior and Senior races…..first off the start line.
On 1st September 2004, wearing his, by then, trade mark bright red crash helmet, hand stickered with the three legs of Mann, Tom headed off down Bray Hill on his Martin Bullock 600cc Honda in the Junior Race. From a standing start on his first lap he broke the 120mph lap barrier, being the first man ever to do so and remained for at least 10 years the Junior lap record holder going into the 2013 MGP. Tragically, on his final lap, while leading the race by 18 seconds, his engine failed him and he crashed at Ballaugh Bridge. Tom sadly never recovered from his injuries and passed away later that evening with his close family by his side. The Island had been robbed of a very talented rider and a popular, quick-witted character. His loss was felt by many in the community, especially his friends and family.
We hope that Tom’s story and his Sports Hall will inspire many others to be as determined as he was to take part and succeed in their chosen sports.
