A Special Thank You
We would like to express our huge thanks to everyone who has funded, supported, undertaken or advised the project – it really has been an immense team effort from you all being alongside us to generate the unbelievable outcome which the Hub is. Every one of you has demonstrated a genuine care for the success of the project. We will ensure that each of your contributions is justified in the positive impact we anticipate for the community from the Hub.
Funding for the project has come from monies generated from the users of the sports hall, added to by significant, generous grants from The Manx Lottery Trust, The Elizabeth Clucas Charitable Trust, The Gough Ritchie Charitable Trust, Peel Charity Shop and The Hanover Charitable Trust. Funding for the project was completed by two significant donations from The Viking Longhouse Trust and a very much appreciated private donation. Donations from another private donor, Manx Charity Aid, the Co-Op Local Community Fund, Ocorian, Thomas Miller (IOM), Peel Golf Club and members of Peel Golf Club involved in the Congary Cup have also been very gratefully received.
Kennaugh and Skinner undertook the project works, supported by Stuart Clague Services who provided the electrical works and CE Richmond on the plumbing. Cleer Vu have installed our tech and JH Security the CCTV, security and access controls. Kelvin’s mate Stu Perry, with help from his Dad John, have done a brilliant job on the painting. Thanks to Paul Dunne for our catering fit out.
The professional team of Carl Jenkins (CJ Design - architectural services), John Gray (structural engineer), Leigh-Ann Kaniewski (House of Design - interior design) and Darren Cain of Steven Morley Chartered Surveyors (planning supervisor) provided valued advice and ideas. Brett Woods helped significantly with our understanding and planning of the project and with the original project ideas. Sean Kelly, Daniel Lace, Jonny Heginbotham (JH Security), Craig MacLaren (Cleer Vu) and the late Ian Kaighin (JC Fargher Lifts) each spent time on the project specification with some continuing through to execution. Gary Weightman provided quantity surveying which was key at the feasibility and funding stage.
Alex Spencer of Simcocks, Paul Cawley of Petra Tax and Andrew Hunter of Hunter Tax Consultants provided kind assistance in the organisation and structure of the project.
Further, as we found with the sports hall project, the support of local businesses can make a huge difference and Magic Carpets, Horizon Scaffolding, MacBlair, Conister Bank, Island Civils & Plant, Apollo Blinds, Cuplas and Magnet all provided support to the project. Bob Jones has continued to provide support on our logo, signage and website, and Chris Caldwell has provided photographs for our social media and website.
Ciaran Gray, Liam Gilman and Pete Marsden produced the Hub’s launch video which explains perfectly the thoughts and feelings behind Kelvin’s Hub.
Lastly thanks to everyone at Peel Football Club for their patience over the last year while the clubhouse building was at varying stages of demolition and construction (and rain was pouring in!) - we really appreciate it.
